The world needs more CEOs: Chief Ethics Officers
There is rising importance towards ethics, this is only the beginning. Our society is moving towards more ethical decision-making and pressures organizations to act on this. There is more need for CEOs: Chief Ethics Officers that can open debates on ethics with all the stakeholders of the organization.
This evolution affects all the parts of the organization going from the products or services the organization produces and delivers towards the strategic decision-making on the board of directors level. Where directors and the management have to make ethical choices and give their consent on; for example, the new investment strategy of the organization. Is this new strategy in compliance with the ethics of the organization? And based on the incorporated values the organization stands for?
When you can accept as leaders that there are paradoxes and contradictions (dualism) you can transcend this, fully aware and conscious. It’s almost spiritual.
Therefore our world needs more CEOs, Chief Ethics Officers that are able to manage and do this.
But the world not only needs more CEOs who can do this, but we also need more individuals who are conscious and able to ask the right ethical questions to open-up this topic and lead the debates.
Having more CEOs: Chief Ethics officers and ethical individuals will probably lead towards:
- The satisfaction of basic human needs: fairness, honestness, ethics
- Credibility
- More long-term profitability
- Safeguarding our society
- Bridge-building between decision-making and non-decision making people
- A better decision-making
Finally, having this consciousness and implementing ethics entirely in the organization is necessary and letting teams elaborate and think independently on ethics.
